James "Jimmy Lee" Forbes
Coach Forbes was named the new Head Wrestling Coach this past summer. He has served as the Head Assistant Coach
for the last 16 years. Coach Forbes is a Southern Connecticut State University grad, where he was a Varsity Letterman in Wrestling.
He is a product of Broward County scholastic wrestling and of the Seahorse Wrestling Club. Coach Forbes was a USWF Jr. Nationals
qualifier in Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. He is also a 2x Sunshine State Games Silver Medalist. With 26 years of coaching
experiance as both a Head and Assistant coach, Assistant and Head coach at Boyd H Anderson HS (9 - 39 - 2), Assistant coach
at DBHS, USWF Team Florida Kids Southeast Regional team, the Seahorse Wrestling Club, the Deerfield Beach Wrestling Club,
and the BSO - PAL Wrestling Club (currently). He is also the Assistant Director and coach of the Deerfield Beach Wrestling
Camp. Coach Forbes is a USA Wrestling Bronze Level certified coach.
The BSO named Coach Forbes the Man of the Year 2007 - 2008. In August of 2011 he was honored at the Deerfield Beach
BSO - PAL Center by the National Wrestling Coaches Association with an award for 25 years of service in the sport.
Coach Forbes hopes to continue the tradition of excellence at Deerfield Beach HS.
Assistant Coach: Robert D. Burns "HOF 07"
After 23 years as Head Coach, Coach Burns has stepped down but will remain as Assistant Coach to his long time
former assistant Jimmy Lee Forbes. Coach Burns lifetime coaching record was 243 - 251 - 2. He is a Penn State grad and wrestler,
with over 30 years of coaching experiance. A product of Pennsylvania scholastic wrestling, Coach Burns has been the Head Coach
at Clearfield Jr. HS (Penn.), Glades Central HS (Fla.), Pope John Paul HS (Fla.), DBHS, the Deerfield Beach Wrestling
Club, and the BSO - PAL Wrestling Club (where he is currently the Special Advisor to wrestling operations). He is also
a veteran clinician of the Lock Haven Wrestling Camps, the Messiah Wrestling camps, Neil Turner Training camps and the
Camp Director of the Deerfield Beach Wrestling Camp.
The BSO named Coach Burns the Man of the Year 2004 - 2005. On August 11, 2007 he was inducted into the National
Wrestling Hall of Fame. In September 2007 he was named "Volunteer of the Year" at the 38th annual Florida Crime Prevention
Association Awards for his work with Floridas Youth. In March of 2009 the National Wrestling Coaches Association honored Coach
Burns in St. Louis, Mo. with plaques for 25 years of service and for passing 200 wins. In November of 2010 the Seahorse Open
Wrestling Committee honored him with the John Lyzott Award for coaching excellence and for "coaching all the kids".
Coach Burns' leadership and inspiration will continued to be looked upon by both athletes and coaches alike.
Assistant Coach: Stu Myerson
Coach Myerson has been with the Deerfield staff for 15 years and is a retired teacher and coach from
Long Island N.Y. with over 30 years of coaching experiance. He wrestled for Millersville University.
Assistant Coach: Noel Seow
Coach Seow comes to the Bucks staff this
year as a volunteer. He formally was an assistant at C. Flanagan HS where he coached both his sons.
